Aysgarth sailors compete at the Northern Prep Schools Regatta

On Sunday 19th June, Aysgarth joined ten other schools in the Northern Prep Schools Regatta at Killington Lake in Kendal.

Each of the eleven schools entered a team made up of three sailors. Representing Aysgarth was Billy Manners, Tom Penty and Tom Manners. Over the course of the day, each of the boys sailed six races in a mixture of Toppers and Picos: changing boats after each race. Every team member’s results counted and all three Aysgarthians completed every race. The Aysgarth team were up against schools such as Sedbergh, S.Anselms, Rydal Penhros and Windermere.

Headmaster Rob Morse said:

“The boys put in a sterling performance and we are very proud that they achieved a respectable 6th at the end of the day. Thinking on their feet, they had to adapt to the different boats and weather conditions throughout the day. It was a new experience for most of them and they supported each other extremely well.”
