Nursery Smiles

Nursery Smiles

From the Head’s Office

As we mark Remembrance Day in Pre-Prep, the significance of that moment in time, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, has been elevated by the children’s enquiry in class.  So many family associations with World War I have been shared. For the children there feels a real connection and understanding of the relevance of the poppy and of the importance of the silence we observe. During our service we read, “Where the Poppies Grow” by Hilary Robinson and children also listened to “Poppies Day” read by Simon Weston. The children were respectful and thoughtful as they remembered those who have fallen and acknowledged the importance of friendship between countries, as well as between ourselves.
This afternoon we welcome David O’Kelly and Scott Flaving, from the Yorkshire Regiment, who will speak to PP2 and 3 about World War I and judge the PP3 WWI art competition. PP3 also look forward to Rugby and Netball at Cundall Manor on Thursday afternoon this week (see separate email from Mr MacLelland).
Thank you to those of you who attended Parents Evenings last week and for the positive comments you shared about the progress your children have been making since the start of term.
Finally, please could you ensure your child comes to school with a warm and named coat, hat and gloves so that they are able to enjoy their playtimes on our rather windy playground!
With best wishes,  Susie Drake,  Head of Pre-Prep

Thank you to everyone who helped at the APPA Bonfire Tea.  £435.50 was raised for APPA funds.

Dear Nursery Parents,

Please, please, PLEASE! could all children bring in appropriate clothing for colder weather.  Waterproof dungarees or trousers would be super if you have them.  Also, gloves, hats, and WARM coats.
Please could we also have a bag (none plastic) of a FULL set of clothes to be left at school in case of accidents, falling in puddles etc.  This does not necessarily have to be school uniform.
ALL clothes and Wellingtons must be named.  This makes it much easier for the Nursery staff to ensure your child goes home with the correct items!
Thank you all for your help. Gay Forth and the Nursery Team
