From the Head’s Office
The Yorkshire sunshine beamed proudly on our Pre-Prep Sports day last week... and what a wonderful atmosphere for the children to shine! Thank you so much for cheering loudly, providing those reassuring ‘thumbs up’ and being such great sports in the parents races. Thank you also to all the teachers who prepared the children so well, but particularly to Emma Barlow and Gay Forth for making sure everything ran smoothly on the start line - a task which is far harder than they make it look! We presented extra certificates for ‘Great Sportsmanship’ yesterday to recognise those children who showed incredible determination, yet were gracious both in times of victory and when they had found a race more of a challenge.
Congratulations to those children who received Endeavour Awards on Saturday at the Prep School presentations and a sincere apology to Tom and his family for the mistake that was made. This award is chosen by class teachers to recognise the children who have worked consistently hard throughout the year. It recognises a child’s positive mindset towards learning and self-improvement. Well done to Max Bailey, Tom Bland, Jack Haslam, Humphrey Hinchliffe, Hector Pearce and Archie MacLelland.
Year 3’s look forward to a team challenge day on Thursday when they will test their co-operation skills as they complete the WOLF run. Please make sure all these children have full sports kit in school.
Finally, we have been approached by local villagers and the police to remind parents to drive with due consideration through the village. Please could we ask parents to watch their speed and refrain from using mobile phones whilst driving in the local area and on school grounds.
With best wishes, Susie Drake, Head of Pre-Prep
