From the Head’s Office
As October approaches, the teaching team have turned their thoughts to preparations for our Harvest Festival which will be held in the school chapel at 9am Friday 10th October. This year we will be collecting for the Store House food bank at the Influence Church in Richmond. Further details will be sent shortly.
The children have also been busy designing and making their Christmas Cards which have now been sent to the printers. We hope to have the printed proofs ready by half term so that you are able to place card orders in good time before the Christmas rush.
Could we also remind parents of the schools ‘nut free’ policy. It is lovely to see the joy on the children’s faces when celebrating a birthday with their friends. Please could you help us to ensure all children are able to join in by keeping any celebratory food nut free.
Finally, thanks to Mr Vaux for coming into school to share family tales of World War 1 with the children. Also to the Prudhoe family for allowing the children to marvel at their medals and weaponry! Freddy Vaux has shared his highlights in the centre pages.
With best wishes,
Susie Drake, Head of Pre-Prep

Our History Topic
by Freddy Vaux
Our trip to Beamish started our topic on WWI with interest and excitement. PP1 and PP2 went to explore together whilst we went shopping in the old town to find things to put in a parcel to send to a soldier.
In the afternoon we explored the old farm and learnt lots about the food shortages and the role of the land girls.
Then on Friday 26th September my daddy visited PP3 to show my friends some of our family WWI treasures. It was really interesting and they enjoyed trying on the helmet and gas mask. They particularly enjoyed listening to the story of my great, great grandfather, Ernest Vaux, who is in our family painting.
Ice Bucket Challenge
Thank you to everyone who donated money to Cystic Fibrosis Trust. The children had great fun soaking the teachers, I’m not sure that Mrs Drake, Mrs Barlow and Miss Phillips enjoyed the experience as much!
Their bravery has raised £71.50.
