About Aysgarth | Leisure Activities

Independent, active and adventurous

Free time at Aysgarth can be a dream– the boys are together with their friends with acres of grounds and wonderful facilities at their disposal. It is a reassuring sight for parents on a typical Sunday to see groups of boys happily occupied in a range of both structured and informal pastimes all over the school. Every weekday evening, there are organised activities run by the staff and a boy can choose from many different options. On Sundays, there is a range of activities including outings, sports, creative and musical hobbies. The boys have busy days, and it is important to allow them time when they can relax. There are three common rooms where they can gather with their age groups; each has a television and games for them to play, such as pool and table football.

We have close links with a number of girls’ boarding schools in the area and we arrange events with them to enable the boys to socialise with girls of their age during their final two years in the school.

The school often organises tours or holidays including ski trips and sports tours. These provide an opportunity for parents and families to join with their sons and friends.

"….a haven where young people can find a set of values from which to live the rest of their lives"
Robert Swan, O.B.E. and Old Aysgarthian. First man to walk to both poles and Special Envoy to the Director General of UNESCO.
