Aysgarth Receives Top Marks in Inspection
ISI graded the Nursery and Reception classes 'Outstanding' for all four categories and gave Yr 1 Pre-Prep to Yr 8 in the Prep, the highest grade of 'Excellent' for two out of three categories.
ISI is the body approved by the Government for the purpose of inspecting schools belonging to the Independent Schools Council (ISC). They complete an inspection every three years, reporting on regulatory compliance including quality of education, teaching, pupil welfare, spiritual, moral and cultural development. The last inspection took place in May 2006.
Within the ISI report it states “The aims of the School are fulfilled extremely well, and the pupils’ achievements are excellent”. When referring to Early Years it reads: “Children enjoy an outstanding start to their education in EYFS (Early Years). Highly effective teaching nurtures lively independent minds, personal confidence and concern for others. They recognise the unique qualities of each child and show excellent understanding of how to meet their individual needs. Children make rapid progress and show high levels of independence in their learning”. When referring to the Prep School, “Common entrance results over the last three years show that standards attained are excellent with a significant number of pupils achieving scholarships to selective schools senior schools. Their achievement is rooted in their exemplary attitudes to learning. The School community buzzes with enjoyment and warmth and this underpins the pupils’ excellent personal development”.
