ICT is taken very seriously at Aysgarth with all of the boys timetabled to spend some time dedicated to learning ICT in the ICT room. The boys also use the computers to support their learning in other subjects, notably English and Maths, but also throughout the curriculum. A few examples include using French programs, Science websites and writing projects for Geography.

Equipment

Aside from the 16 computers in the ICT suite each teacher has their own laptop which can be used for admin as well as to support learning in the school. The current tally of smartboards has reached 4 with an additional 2 projectors allowing teachers to bring ICT into the classroom throughout the school.

Free Time

Besides encouraging the use of computers in lessons, the ICT department encourages the boys to enjoy the computers in their free time too. Each boy has his own school e-mail account which they check almost daily for mail from their parents and friends elsewhere.

Intranet

We also have a school intranet that acts as a library of links for the boys so that the boys will be directed to spend their free time on the computers constructively. There are also regular updates show piecing boys' work as well as the much loved Aysgarth Broadcasting Corporation News produced as one of the after school hobbies.
