Aysgarth School

Aysgarth has a fine reputation for its productions - recent years have seen our boys in productions as varied as Bugsy Malone, Anything Goes, Asp, Cinders and Bobbin and the Mystic Pathway. The first and second forms take responsibility for the Christmas show with the senior boys having their turn in the Spring. Every boy has the opportunity to perform on stage at least four times over his school career. Some boys, as they reach the top of the school, feel their talents lie elsewhere and so we run a successful Stage Crew programme, allowing these boys to gain the skills of stage management, lighting and sound.

In addition to our productions, drama is built in to the English curriculum with regular sessions covering stagecraft, script conventions, speaking and listening and teamwork. For those boys who really enjoy their drama there is the possibility of opting into individual Speech and Drama lessons, run by our peripatetic specialist Mrs Pam Coghlan. These lessons enable boys to work towards LAMDA grades as well as take part in local festivals and tournaments.
