Headmaster and Mrs Lottie Morse

Rob is married to Lottie and has two children; Daisy and Harry. Prior to his appointment at Aysgarth, Rob was Headmaster at Perrott Hill Preparatory School in Somerset and before this held the post of Deputy Head and Housemaster at S. Anselm’s, Derbyshire. The early stages of his career were spent at Bedford School (HMC) and at Mount House School in Devon.
Rob and Lottie live in the School building. Rob teaches geography and games, and is fully involved in the pastoral and boarding aspects of the School.
Rob chairs the management meetings and is responsible for communications with both Senior and Preparatory Schools.
Rob’s interests are his family, rugby, cricket, music, reading, golf, running and swimming. He is a very enthusiastic but far from proficient surfer.

Following her Fine Art Degree, Lottie began her career at Bedford Modern School where she held the post of Artist in Residence. Lottie has taught across the age range from 5-year-olds through to 18-year-olds and across the full range of subjects. However, she favours the creative disciplines and is the happiest when teaching English, art or drama.
Lottie does her utmost to ensure that the School feels as homely as possible for the boys and she firmly believes that happy children learn more quickly. She says that being with the boys is the best part of the job and she feels passionately that Aysgarth should be a School that embraces every type of boy, whatever his passions and interests.
Lottie’s interests are painting, drawing, printmaking, drama, reading, and walking with their Labradors.
Philip Southall - Assistant Headmaster and Head of History
B.A.(Hons.) Hull University, P.G.C.E. St. Mary's College, Twickenham.
Philip is married to Squeeze who works in the Pre-Prep. They have three boys, Ben, William and Ned, who have all come through Aysgarth. Philip is also an Old Aysgarthian himself, attending the School in 1968 before moving on to Uppingham. He returned to Aysgarth in 1983 as a Master, then taught at Elstree School for nine years before being lured back to Aysgarth.
Philip takes care of the running of the School on a daily basis, teaches history, is the 1st team soccer coach, 2nd team rugby coach and coaches 1st team tennis. He is a VERY keen Middlesborough F.C. supporter. His interests are sports, especially football and rugby, squash, tennis, fishing and shooting.
Paul Barlow - Deputy Head (Pastoral)

Paul Barlow came to Aysgarth from Ardingly College where he was Boarding Master and Head of Games. He originally became Aysgarth's Director of Sport before taking up the Housemaster post. Paul loves all aspects of boarding and has a passion for outdoor sports. Paul lives on site and is married to Emma, who teaches in the Pre-Prep. They have three children, Ewan, Teddy and Poppy.
Ed Canning - Director of Studies
B.Sc. Leeds University, P.G.C.E. Canterbury, PhD
Dr Canning was awarded his PhD. by the University of Leeds and has a PGCE from Canterbury. He has a background in scientific research in the UK and overseas.
He lives nearby in the village with his wife Hazel and family of three children, Josephine, Harry and Oscar. The family would not be complete without mentioning Zanzi, their Rhodesian Ridgeback. Ed is a keen outdoorsman and loves sailing. He is also a musician and an artist.
Jo MacLelland - Director of Performing Arts and I.T.
B.A. (Hons) QTS, University of Lancaster
Jo is married to Gordon who is Director of Sport. They live at Bank Top with their son Archie and daughter Pippa.
Jo's interests include food and wine, classical music, growing vegetables, entertaining, tennis and golf.
Andrew Francis - Bursar
N Dip.Civ.Eng. (Durban), Professional Guides Licence - walking safaris (Zimbabwe, Africa)
Andrew is responsible for the School's finances as well as any new build or maintenance programmes throughout the School. His background is in construction and finance in Zimbabwe as well as walking safaris.
Andrew loves sport and is especially keen on cricket and rugby. He is keen on developing children’s potential in sport. Andrew lives locally, is married to Sue and has two boys, both whom have been through Aysgarth.
