What Makes Our Pre-Prep a perfect start

Our Pre-Prep offers an outstanding foundation for young learners, blending academic, social and emotional development with enriching opportunities.

A Warm, Supportive Community

Small class sizes create a nurturing, close-knit environment where every child is known and valued. Morning handovers ensure parents and staff work together to support each child, whilst we actively measure wellbeing because we know that happy children learn best. Mutual respect and support underpin everything we do.

Children enjoy hot, nutritious meals with staff daily, practising table manners, conversation and healthy habits. Fresh fruit, crackers and vegetable crudités are provided twice daily as snacks. There are no packed lunches here; mealtimes are an important part of the day where boys and girls sit together, chat and build friendships.

A Unique Year 3 Experience

Unlike most schools, our Year 3 remains in Pre-Prep. This extra year builds maturity and confidence a nurturing environment, with pupils taking on important roles such as Head of House and Head Boy or Girl. As the eldest, they guide visitors, read publicly and act as role models for younger children, developing skills that prepare them beautifully for their next step.

Our Pre-Prep is more than a school; it’s a place where children are nurtured, challenged, and celebrated, setting them up for a bright and confident future.

Celebrating Individuality

We believe small classes and a non-selective approach ensure every child's unique needs are met. We tailor activities to suit different learning styles, recognising that boys and girls learn in different ways and at different paces. This personalised approach allows each child to flourish.

Each child's literacy journey is documented in a keepsake book, a treasured record of their progress. We use these alongside PIMs (Progress in Maths) to track numeracy development, giving us a picture of each child's learning and allowing us to celebrate their individual successes.

A Strong Start for Lifelong Learning

We nurture a strong work ethic from the earliest years, preparing children for future success. Early phonics testing allows us to identify any challenges quickly, ensuring tailored support through class teaching and SEN input where needed.

Outstanding Opportunities

Children benefit from specialist teaching in sport, French, IT, art and music, with access to purpose-built facilities including our Art and DT block.

Each class enjoys two trips per term whilst our whole-school summer topic promotes collaboration across year groups.

From age six, children participate in fixtures with high-level coaching four days a week. Weekly swimming lessons start in Nursery, with Swim Club available for twice-weekly sessions. Our Reynolds Hall provides a wonderful space for drama, with LAMDA lessons available from Year 2, giving children opportunities to perform and build confidence.

Outdoor Adventures and Child-Led Learning

Our stunning grounds, walled garden and new jungle trail create endless opportunities for exploration and discovery. Weekly "Riddle Diddles" adventures inspire imagination in our youngest pupils whilst reinforcing phonics in a magical way. Throughout Pre-Prep, boys and girls have safe opportunities to lead their own learning and develop independence, building the curiosity and confidence that will serve them throughout their school years.

Wraparound Care

The Stables now houses our before and after-school care, offering a warm environment with dedicated areas for play and relaxation. An enhanced entrance route ensures a smoother, safer and more inviting arrival for our youngest pupils and their families.
