Aysgarth Pupil Recognised Among Tournament's Best in International Cricket Event

During the Easter holidays, Aysgarth pupil Daniel travelled to La Manga, Spain, to take part in the Adil Rashid World Junior Cricket League as part of the North England Warriors squad.

The franchise-style tournament brings together elite youth cricketers from U11 to U18 age groups across iconic global locations. The aim is to create a professional platform for young cricketers from around the world to showcase their talents, improve their skills, and gain exposure to scouts, coaches, and a worldwide audience.

The experience began at Manchester Airport, where Daniel met his teammates—many for the first time—and even shared the flight with Adil Rashid himself. On arrival in Spain, the team went straight into training in preparation for a packed competition schedule.

Throughout the tournament, Daniel led by example. He captained the team in every match and proved dependable both with bat and ball. In the opening game against the Melbourne Lions, he won the toss, elected to field, scored 29 runs from 18 balls, and was awarded Player of the Match after hitting the winning runs. He also posted a lightning 58 off just 22 balls in a later match and contributed with wickets, catches, and even a run-out across the tournament.

Daniel’s North England Warriors side placed third overall — a fantastic effort, earning him the accolade of third Most Valuable Player in the entire tournament. We are immensely proud of Daniel’s determination, resilience, and sporting achievement – a true ambassador for Aysgarth.
