An enrichment programme is a supplementary educational programme designed to enhance students' academic experience and challenge them. At Aysgarth, we hold this concept dear. Education at Aysgarth is not a mere equation of reading and arithmetic; it is a vibrant tapestry woven with threads of engagement, exploration, and enrichment. Our pupils are active architects of their learning journey and it certainly does not stop at the end of the timetabled school day!
As well as the weekly activities and clubs on offer, we have enrichment opportunities every weekend. This weekend, Form 2, 3 & 5 went to Adrenalin, Form 1 had a surfing lesson at Saltburn & Form 4 had a shooting lesson with Erik Aaron. These activities offered our boys the chance to hone a number of skills from critical thinking, teamwork, leadership, adaptability to resilience.
This week sees the beginning of our 2023/24 staff-led Enrichment programmes that touch upon diverse topics, providing an intellectual feast for eager minds.
13th September - Stress & Anxiety levels in Sport - How to control your emotions and be able to perform at the optimal level. Director of Sport, Alex Lan
20th September - Something is rotten in the state of Denmark - Why Shakespeare’s Hamlet is the greatest play of all time. Director of Drama, Jon Bentham

Enrichment, you see, is not just about acquiring knowledge; it's about embracing the questions that push the boundaries of our understanding. It's about nurturing the inquisitive spirit that resides within each child, regardless of their starting point. So, all our pupils are welcome and encouraged to attend each talk.
