On Thursday 28th September, Aysgarth School hosted an IAPS rugby festival. It was an honour for the school to host the northern hub and this is something I have been working on with IAPS for some time to promote more sports festivals in the north. We were delighted to host Sedbergh Prep, Stonyhurst & St Peters, York.
Despite the stiff competition on a scoreline basis, we performed well in attack and scored lots of brilliant tries. Tackling and physicality in the contact area is something to work on but as a group, I am confident that this year's group will compete, and front up over the next 2 years.
Many thanks to Simon Verbickas (Sedbergh), Tim Day & Maurice Monteith (Rugby), Chris Moore (Uppingham), Seb Phillips (Ampleforth) and Jamie Lennard (Oundle) for their support and enthusiasm refereeing this afternoon. Thank you also to all the parents who came to watch. There was a lovely atmosphere and the boys really enjoyed having your support on the touchline.
