It was a privilege to host Dylan Hartley at Aysgarth on 24 February 2026 for a rugby masterclass and evening lecture for pupils, staff and parents. With 97 caps for England, he is now High Performance Lead at Rugby School. Dylan delivered a powerful message for children about success being earned through determination to be the hardest worker, not simply the most naturally talented. Reflecting on his own career journey, he spoke openly about setbacks, including not being selected for his school team at the age of many of the pupils in the room. He encouraged resilience, perseverance and a relentless work ethic, reminding everyone that progress often comes from persistence, not early recognition, and that consistent effort can be the true foundation of long-term achievement.
