House Music Brings Aysgarth Together

Aysgarth was alive with music, colour and camaraderie last week as pupils gathered for the much‑loved House Music competition. It was a morning of joy, confidence and togetherness - the very best of what House spirit brings to school life.

We were honoured to welcome Dr Douglas Coombes MBE as our adjudicator. With his wealth of musical expertise and long-standing connection to choral performance, Dr Coombes brought encouragement and thoughtful insight to every musician and group who took to the stage.

Each House performed its own uplifting rendition of Bruno Mars’ Count on Me, filling the hall with strong vocals. Alongside the House songs, pupils also impressed in ensemble and solo categories - a testament to the musical talent flourishing across the school.

Competition was tough, and complementing their win as House Song winners, overall House Music winners were Spartans.

Congratulations must also be given to Athenians and Spartans who triumphed as ensemble joint winners, and Junior and Senior soloist winners, Otto and Chessie.

Well done everyone!

Aysgarth’s music programme continues to be one of the school’s great strengths, placing music at the centre of daily life and equipping pupils with the confidence, creativity and performance experience that shapes their future learning.
